Oh my GOD!!! Is this true?

I couldn’t believe it when I read this post – On jQuery and Microsoft from Ayende, but it is both true and super-sweet. If anyone still has even an iota of doubt about whether or not to use open-source frameworks for your production ready applications, I believe this post from none other than Scott Gu – jQuery and Microsoft must strike like a lightening to him / her.

And the very important points from Scott Gu’s post are –

Rather than duplicate functionality, we thought, wouldn’t it be great to just use jQuery as-is, and add it as a standard, supported, library in VS/ASP.NET, and then focus our energy building new features that took advantage of it?

We will distribute the jQuery JavaScript library as-is, and will not be forking or changing the source from the main jQuery branch.

We will also extend Microsoft product support to jQuery beginning later this year, which will enable developers and enterprises to call and open jQuery support cases 24×7 with Microsoft PSS.

We also plan to contribute tests, bug fixes, and patches back to the jQuery open source project.  These will all go through the standard jQuery patch review process.

Writhing in pain or jumping in joy 😉 Depends on which side of the fence you are.
